Woollahra is proud to be featured in The Indigenous Business Review, highlighting the impact of our partnership with Soap Aid, Fortescue, and Civeo Australia—a collaboration that is transforming waste into meaningful community outcomes.
What started as a simple idea has grown into a powerful initiative delivering environmental and social impact across Western Australia.
Giving Soap a Second Life
Every year, millions of single-use soap bars from FIFO mining camps end up in landfill.
Through our partnership with Soap Aid, Woollahra is helping change that.
Used soap is collected from accommodation sites, recycled and remanufactured into new bars, and redistributed to communities in need through the Camps to Communities program.
This initiative ensures that something once considered waste is instead turned into a valuable resource—supporting hygiene and health outcomes for First Nations communities across the state.
A Circular Approach to Sustainability
At Woollahra, sustainability is more than a commitment—it’s embedded into how we operate.
This program is a powerful example of circular economy principles in action, where waste is:
- Collected and diverted from landfill
- Reprocessed into new, usable products
- Delivered to communities where it can make a real difference
By closing the loop, we are not only reducing environmental impact but also creating tangible social value.
Measurable Impact
The results speak for themselves.
Together with our partners, this initiative is:
- Diverting significant volumes of soap waste from landfill
- Reducing carbon emissions associated with waste disposal
- Providing essential hygiene products to communities in need
It’s a model that proves even small changes in supply chains can lead to large-scale, measurable outcomes.
Powered by Partnership
This initiative would not be possible without the collaboration between Woollahra, Soap Aid, Fortescue, and Civeo Australia.
Each partner plays a critical role in ensuring the program’s success—from collection and logistics to processing and distribution.
Together, we are demonstrating what can be achieved when organisations align around a shared purpose.
Small Idea, Big Impact
The concept behind this initiative is simple: don’t waste what can be reused.
But the impact is profound.
By rethinking waste and reimagining its potential, we are helping create:
- Healthier communities
- More sustainable operations
- Stronger connections between industry and social impact
At Woollahra, we believe that even the smallest ideas can create the biggest change—when backed by purpose, partnership, and action.
